Final task

There are many activities I like from my  course´s classmates. I will use in my class the storyjumper activity from the blog Crazy English even if Halloween has already taken place. It is very easy and attractive. She tells de story in a very intriguing way that will catch my students´ attention. In a dark, dark forest

I also like vrey much the EsPuzzle activity by José Lopez Torres about learning the parts of the body.  We can watch Steve and Maggie whom children love. It contains many images, notes, different types of questions that makes the video very interactive. Body parts

I will put both of them in practice after Chrsitmas beacuse this week we have no more English in class. I have learnt many things and I hope to use them on my daily basis as much as possible.

I all wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Reviews on two classmates´ blogs

I like Five ways to learn English blog by Luis Alberto Hernández. When you click on it a visual summary of the whole course appears. It is very easy to find the different activities we have been doing throughout the course. The only thing I son´t like about this design is that looks a little empty when you start to work on a blog.  I like the pages he included as interesting in section webpages Click

I love Crazy for English by Mari Olga Alfonsel. As for the design is the same as the previous one but the content included on it is amazing. She has published many interesting and practical webpages that I will use for sure in my class. I like everthing, layout, content, organization. I don´t find anything wrong. Congratulation. Click here to see the blog

The wish tree

This project is about expressing our wishes in a simple and short way. We are a big group and our students have come up with many wishes.

The steps or stages followed to do this project have been the following:

-Firstly, a brainstorming for choosing the topic.

-Secondly,  heterogenous groups have been made according to their English levels.

- Thirdly, participant roles within the groups have been assigned (reporter, resource monitor, captain)

-Fourthly, wishes are translated into English with my help because they are still very young

-Fifthly, a template is choosen for genially and messages are typed on it. We use the main computer that is projected with the interactive board and the whole class can see what is going on at each moment. Each student type their wish and insert with my help a picture related to their wishes

-Sixtly, a background song is chosen. They see how I do it and they are surprised of the result.

After many previous view to check everything is ok, the project comes to its end. We click ready and share with their families. Then, the reporters of each grop come to the IWB and reveal the wishes of their group members.

Pupils have enjoyed a lot using genially but it is still difficult for them. They are seven years old and both their linguistic and digital competence are very low. However, they have learn very much.

We have made just a genially because we have just my computer in class and as I  already mentioned they are still very young. Besides, it has taken a week to finish it. However, a very nice experience.

ABC book of my class (Part 1)

Book titled 'ABC's of my classA-F (Part1)'Read this book made on StoryJumper

Reflexion on storyjumper tool

Creating their own book has been a very positive experience for my students. We just have a computer in the classroom and the interactive board. Therefore, we have worked all together as a whole class activity.

Once we decided what our book would be about, We did a brainstorming of animals whose names started with the letters in our book. Once chosen the animals students discussed features of the different animals, their hábitat, food and so on.

I used the google images to elicit ideas from students.  AS they were calling out ideas and words I was writing them down on the blackboard in a word map. Using this technique made the task easier for my pupils. They just had to put ideas together. Anyway, I wrote everything on the blackboard so that student in charge of writing in the storyjumper tool didn´t have to much mistakes.

Once we had everything clear I projected the computer on the interactive board and they started to click on the different boxes in the tool, choosing images, scenes, type, color, size of letter and so on and starting to create their own product. The final product has been shared with students through google classroom

Throughout this activity the aims planned have been several. First of all, encourage students to write by digital, attractive tolos, secondly to develop  their creativity,  the learning to learn and digital competence and finally to learn the alphabet by heart in a meaningful way.

For next time, I would try to ask for an appointment for the computer room so student can work cooperatively at the samen time and have the chance to use the computer as much as posible.
